A 7 h 30, Romulus
appelle Maja !
Cela me parait très bon.
demain.

At 7.30 am, Romulus calls Maja! The
same Romulus who made us change course last year,
the last night while returning from Inverness .
I wake Jens up and he takes the communication. It's the same thing, we must make
a detour south around a seismic exploration vessel, the "Atlantic
Challenger", but it is OK, we would anyway go south. Always very friendly,
Romulus .
Jens is at the helm
and I sleep. We sleep well, both of us when we are "off-watch". The
wind has dropped significantly, the sea is calm and it is nice. Despite this,
I'm still not too well. At 1.00 pm, the wind dies completely. Jens starts the
engine and lowers the sails.
At 3.00 pm, Jens makes
tea, and knekkebrød (Wasa crisp) in tea is my first feast in two days. It seems
very good. I stay with Jens in the dog house.
We arrive in Lerwick at
9.20 pm, (8.20 pm, local time), after 36 hours of passage, like the previous
two times. It's gray and foggy. We go straight to the "Old Harbour ";
anyway, there is no choice: the long pontoon Albert Wharf
where we were first last year no longer exists. Instead, a floating hotel that
houses the oil workers occupies the entire length of the dock.
We tie us to a Dutch
sailboat. We invite the captain to share our ankerdramm (welcome drink). He is
about 60 years old, sailing alone and wanted to be the first Dutch who would have
made Holland Svalbard non-stop and single-handed! But he had problems with the autopilot
and had to stop here, at Lerwick. He is a little disappointed and hopes to try
again next year.
We are very happy to
be in Lerwick. Many foreign boats (Norvegians, of course, Deutch, German,
Finnish and one from the Feroe islands) give an international feeling. We feel
that we are really abroad.
A boat near the
pontoon is leaving. We think to take her place, but it is late, we will do it
tomorrow.
A funny platform: it looks like a ship on legs
